HC Verva Litvínov’s four-game home stretch ended with a loss to HC Kometa Brno, as the hosts’ season-long scoring problems resurfaced. Litvínov had beaten Karlovy Vary and Plzeň for three points apiece, but managed only one goal against Brno. David Kaše, the team’s sole scorer on Sunday, said Litvínov created chances but was not converting enough of them.
After the first quarter of the regular season, Litvínov were averaging 2.21 goals per game, with only Olomouc scoring fewer. At even strength, only Plzeň had scored fewer goals. Kaše said the team needed more pressure around the net, greater determination and composure in front of goal.
Kaše tied the game at 1-1 in the first period, assisted by David Kämpf and his brother Ondřej. He said he was working his way back after an injury and hoped to help his two teammates, but the goal was not enough. Litvínov’s next game is away to Pardubice on Tuesday.
