Stanislav Škorvánek made 27 saves for his first shutout of the season as Mountfield HK defeated HC Dynamo Pardubice 2-0 in the East Bohemian derby. The victory was Mountfield’s third consecutive win over its regional rival, and its second three-point success against Pardubice this season.
The Slovak goaltender said his team had played a solid game and deserved the points. He also stopped three breakaways, but revealed that a blow to the head early in the match left him considering whether he should be substituted. After taking a tablet during the first television timeout, his headache and dizziness passed and he was able to continue.
Pardubice had one power play, late in the third period, but Škorvánek said Mountfield kept the visitors from creating much danger. He praised the team’s work in front of him and said a shutout depended on the whole side performing well.
Škorvánek also explained that he will not join Slovakia’s squad for the November international break. He is in contact with the coaches, and they agreed that he would sit out the Germany tournament because of the demands of travel and his workload.
