HC Sparta Praha will mark the 20th edition of its Sparťanská krev charity campaign by wearing special jerseys in every game in November, both at home and away. The club logo will be covered on both jersey designs by a brushstroke, alongside the words “Donate blood”. A motif of blood running down the jerseys is intended to highlight the constant need for donations, the club said.

Traditional red will also be removed from the black and white jerseys. Sparta’s message is that blood has no club colour: anyone may need a blood transfusion, regardless of which team they support. The club says one in every three people will need donated blood during their lifetime.

In a promotional video, players, fans and well-known personalities take off their Sparta jerseys, setting aside the differences sport creates to join the appeal: “You too can save a life.”
