HC TIWAG Innsbruck – Die Haie have signed Canadian Parker Foo from the Shanghai Dragons of the KHL. The Edmonton native was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the fifth round in 2017 and spent three seasons at Union College before moving to the KHL in 2020. Across 251 games for Kunlun Red Star and the Shanghai Dragons, the left-handed shooter recorded 43 goals and 51 assists.
Foo represented China at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, scoring against Germany what the club described as the first goal by a Chinese men’s national team at an Olympic Games. General manager Günther Hanschitz said the signing brings in a player who has competed at a high international level for many years.
After parting ways with Ryan Kinasewich and Florian Pedevilla, Innsbruck will use two people from within the club as interim solutions. Ville Kolppanen, who joined in October 2024, has been the U20 head coach and goaltending coach. Daniel Mitterdorfer, most recently the club’s Business & Development Manager, played more than 400 games in Austria’s top division and over 60 internationals. The club is also working on a long-term coaching appointment.
