Olimpija Ljubljana defenceman Rozle Bohinc has received a two-game suspension and a €400 fine for an illegal check to the head or neck of Milano forward Nick Caamano. The incident occurred on Sunday, at 27:32 of the game, and resulted in a major penalty and game misconduct for Bohinc.

The ICE Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety reviewed video of the hit and classified it as a Category 1, “Careless” incident. The review found that Bohinc’s right shoulder struck Caamano’s head first and with considerable force. Caamano had just received a chip pass and little time to react or adjust his position.

The league said the contact was avoidable: Bohinc had enough space and opportunity to make a legal shoulder-to-shoulder or body check. Instead, his direct approach made Caamano’s head the first point of contact. The review noted that Bohinc was responsible for ensuring the check was legal and that the head was not the initial contact point. Bohinc was not considered a repeat offender.
