Milano Hockey Club president Christof Leitner says the club’s first home games at the Fiera Ice Arena have brought hockey back to the city. He described seeing the players on the ice and fans in the stands as an emotional moment, after the project had started only a few months earlier. Leitner said there was still plenty to improve, but called the arena and team a shared achievement.
The club was admitted to the league on June 1 and played its first home game in the newly built arena four months later. Leitner said the organisation, team, financing and arena had to be developed at the same time. Experience from the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and cooperation with Fiera Milano helped the project move forward, he said.
Leitner said the club wants to build a professional and stable organisation, earn supporters’ trust and help families and young people reconnect with hockey. For its debut season, he said, the immediate priorities are to grow together as a team, perform consistently and improve step by step. The longer-term ambition is to make Milano Hockey Club an established presence in European hockey.
