FTC-Telekom’s overtime home win over EC-KAC was the Budapest side’s first victory against the Klagenfurt team in league history. Captain Rasmus Bengtsson called it a good game between two strong teams and said FTC started well before conceding twice and losing some control. The team responded strongly to earn the extra point, he said. Bengtsson assisted FTC’s goal to make it 2-2.
The Swedish defenceman said the team’s special teams stood out in a game with many penalties. FTC performed well on the power play and while shorthanded, continuing a strength that Bengtsson said had helped the team win games throughout the season.
The win completed a strong weekend after FTC beat Vorarlberg 4-3 on Friday. The team took the points from two different games and is now looking ahead, Bengtsson said. FTC has 15 points from 10 games and sits ninth. Its next match is away to Villach on Wednesday, followed by a home game against Pustertal on Saturday and a trip to Linz on Sunday. Bengtsson said the team would approach the busy week positively.
