EC Red Bull Salzburg have appointed Teemu Levijoki as head coach after the club made changes following Friday’s home defeat to Steinbach Black Wings Linz. Salzburg have taken 13 points from 11 games, with four wins, and sit 12th in the standings. Managing director pro Helmut Schlögl said the performances so far had not met the club’s expectations and thanked the three coaches for their work, wishing them well for the future.
Levijoki, a Finn already working within the organisation, had been in charge of the Red Bull Hockey Juniors in the Alps Hockey League. His compatriot Ilkka Pakarinen will join him as assistant coach. Pakarinen has worked with the Juniors for more than four years.
Levijoki’s first game behind the bench is Wednesday’s home match against third-placed Olimpija Ljubljana. Salzburg then visit Innsbruck on Friday before hosting Pioneers Vorarlberg on Sunday.
