HC Oceláři Třinec will be without defenceman Patrik Koch for Wednesday’s postponed 15th-round game at Kometa Brno. He must serve a one-game suspension for his hit on Karlovy Vary forward Jan Bambula in Sunday’s match. Koch was sent off immediately, and disciplinary committee chairman Radim Bičánek added the suspension.

The committee imposed the minimum ban, noting that little time had passed since Bambula played the puck and that the forward had put himself in a vulnerable position by crouching and being unprepared for the collision. It also said Koch kept his hands close to his body and did not increase the force of his movement by shifting his weight. However, the committee said Koch hit Bambula in the head and neck area and was solely responsible for avoiding a threat to his opponent’s health.

Bičánek also fined Plzeň forward Jakub Lev 10 per cent of his basic monthly salary. He ruled that Lev exaggerated a fall during a goalmouth altercation in Liberec.
