HC Dynamo Pardubice won 3-2 away to HC Vítkovice Ridera in an emotional game, but the victory came at a cost. Forward Vladimír Sobotka left in the first period with a shoulder injury and did not return. Lukáš Sedlák, a centre on the top line, limped off late in the game with an unspecified lower-body injury. Assistant coach Václav Kočí said he could not yet give an update on either player.

Defenceman Jan Košťálek was ejected at 49:56 after pushing linesman Pavel Blažek following a battle with Krzysztof Macias. Referee Tomáš Cabák assessed a game misconduct for physical abuse of officials. Kočí said Košťálek knew he had gone too far, while suggesting he may have been trying to retrieve his stick from beneath the official.

The game also featured a fight between Marek Kalus and John Ludvig, who was playing his first game of the new season. Kočí said Dynamo had played at a good pace for the first two periods, but Vítkovice were more active in the third. He added that his team had returned from a Champions Hockey League game in Bordeaux early Thursday morning before travelling to Vítkovice on Friday.
