Mountfield HK forward Marek Domkář made his Czech Extraliga debut at 15 years and 312 days, playing against league leaders HC Oceláři Třinec. Mountfield lost 5-2, but the young forward made a strong impression in his first senior appearance.
Domkář spent 10 minutes on the ice and had four shots on goal, the joint-highest total among Mountfield players. He said adjusting to the pace and physical play was the hardest part, but felt he adapted. He featured on the fourth line alongside Radek Pilař and Markus Nenonen.
Assistant coach Petr Koukal praised Domkář’s performance, saying he had “stood up excellently” in a difficult game. Koukal added that the teenager was not afraid to handle the puck and tried to create plays rather than simply get rid of it.
Domkář said he was pleased to have made his debut and hoped he might get another opportunity, though he did not know whether he would play again. The appearance came 15 days before Adam Novotný’s age at his own debut, according to the article.
