Rayen Petrovický is leaving HC Olomouc to join the Oceláři Třinec organisation. The Slovak defenceman will strengthen the defence of both Třinec’s Extraliga team and partner club Frýdek-Místek, which plays in the Maxa Liga, the second tier of Czech hockey.
Třinec sporting director Jan Peterek said the organisation had been looking for a defenceman who could help both teams after Alex Rašner left for Jihlava. Peterek described the 24-year-old as keen to improve and pointed to his experience with the Slovak national team and in the Czech top division.
Petrovický has played in Czechia for four years. He made 63 Extraliga appearances for Bílí Tygři Liberec and Olomouc, scoring twice and adding 11 assists. He also has 16 second-tier appearances, for Vsetín and briefly Přerov last season, with one assist.
Petrovický said he was excited by the transfer opportunity and would work to earn his place in the team.
