Ville Petman scored twice as HC Škoda Plzeň earned two points against HC Vítkovice Ridera on Sunday, winning in a shootout after surrendering a 5-3 lead in the third period. Petman said Plzeň had hoped to take all three points, but was glad to claim two.
Plzeň scored three power-play goals after changing its formations and focusing more on shooting. Petman praised his teammates for setting up his chances, with Jakub Lev assisting on his first goal and Christophe Lalancette providing the pass for his second. Petman said he had aimed to play more aggressively, shoot more and get into the middle of the ice.
Vítkovice began its comeback with a power-play goal early in the third, after a Plzeň penalty. Petman said his team then struggled to maintain its play from the first two periods, perhaps becoming nervous or too passive. He said scoring twice was pleasing, but stressed that the team’s success mattered more than his personal statistics.
