HC Olomouc’s winless run continued with a 5-0 home defeat to HC Energie Karlovy Vary in the 11th round of the Czech Extraliga. The visitors scored once in the first period, added two goals in less than two minutes in the second, then struck twice more late in the game. Olomouc managed 19 shots on Dominik Frodl, while facing 39 attempts.

Forward Jakub Navrátil said Olomouc needed to simplify its attack and shoot instead of looking for extra passes. “We should score those dirty goals that Vary scored, from in front of the net,” he said. He also acknowledged that his own performances had not met expectations and said he needed to work harder.

Navrátil said the team must be more forceful in challenges and carry the intensity of training into games. Despite the six consecutive defeats, he believes one fortunate win could turn things around. Olomouc’s next chance comes at home against Pardubice on Sunday.
