Matěj Kubiesa has won the September Kaufland ICE:TIME metric after a strong start to the season with HC Oceláři Třinec. The 20-year-old forward logged 78 minutes of ice time across the team’s first six games, posted a plus-10 rating and scored three goals and two assists. Třinec also moved to the top of the league table during its successful opening to the season.

Kaufland ICE:TIME considers young players’ ice time and contribution to their team, as well as their points. Kubiesa joined Třinec’s fourth line at the start of the season and worked his way up to the second line.

For winning the September award, Kubiesa will receive CZK 50,000 from Kaufland to support youth hockey in Třinec. He chose Marek Malík, a coach in Třinec’s youth programme, as the person who helped him most on his hockey journey. Malík will receive a further CZK 10,000.

Kubiesa began playing hockey in Frýdek-Místek and later played in Třinec’s youth teams, winning a junior title with the club in 2023. He has also played in the WHL and in Malmö.
