Stanislav Svozil marked his first appearance for HC Verva Litvínov with a goal, but his new team lost 4-1 to Mountfield HK. The defenceman had joined from HC Kometa Brno and played after just one training session, having gone around 20 days without a game.
Svozil opened the scoring in the sixth minute, taking advantage of a screen in the slot late in a power play. He later took a penalty that Mountfield converted on its own power play. Svozil said the long break made the game physically demanding, but felt he had handled the return well. He said he would have traded his goal and player-of-the-match recognition for three points.
The 25-year-old said Litvínov’s direction and the opportunities it offers players influenced his decision to move. He praised the coaching staff and dressing room, and said he was looking forward to improving with the team. Litvínov’s coach described Svozil as an offensive defenceman with good puck distribution and said he expected him to improve with more game time.
