Jacob Modry’s try-out with Mountfield HK has ended after less than three weeks, with the club and the 27-year-old defenceman agreeing to terminate it early. The trial had been expected to last a month. Modry is the son of Czech hockey figure Jaroslav Modry.

Coach Tomáš Martinec’s staff used Modry in five games, but only once did he play more than 15 minutes. In his other appearances, he received just a few shifts, with his ice time around three to five minutes. He recorded two shots, six blocked shots and a minus-two rating.

Mountfield had hoped to add physical play, work ethic and aggression around the net through Modry’s signing. His last appearance was Friday against Třinec. The move was his first European stint, while he had played in the lower-level ECHL in North America since 2023. A return there is presented as a possible next step, but no decision is reported.
