HC Škoda Plzeň claimed the extra point against HC Kometa Brno after a successful coaches’ challenge wiped out an apparent Kometa winner in overtime. The visitors then scored the decisive goal, leaving Brno with one point from the close contest.
Plzeň forward Adam Měchura scored twice and also hit the goal frame. He said he was pleased that his goals helped his team earn at least two points. The visitors had started slowly, but assistant coach Václav Pletka said a change to the lines in the second period helped the team improve and create chances.
Kometa coach Kamil Pokorný said his team began well and had more of the puck, but Plzeň became more active from around the halfway point. Brno’s Jakub Brabenec said it was difficult to refocus after the apparent winning goal was disallowed for offside.
Pokorný also confirmed that Pospíšil was absent for health reasons. He said Kusko was in worse condition, Ščotka was expected to be doing better, and Svozil was training with the team, with his return still uncertain.
