Guildford Flames beat Dundee Stars 5-2 at the Spectrum on Wednesday, extending their unbeaten run to three games and ending Dundee’s three-game winning streak. Tyler Busch opened the scoring at 2:18, and Brett Neumann made it 2-0 less than two minutes later. “It's nice to get a lead early in the game, and I think we did great to follow it up,” said Guildford’s Justin Ducharme.
Josh Waller extended the lead early in the second period, but Keaton Jameson scored twice to bring Dundee within one at 3-2. Guildford restored their two-goal advantage when Ducharme finished a pass from Busch with just under five minutes left in the period. Jameson said Dundee had shown better offence but needed to manage its turnovers and breakdowns.
Cole Sanford scored a powerplay goal in the third period to complete the 5-2 win. Ducharme said the team was enjoying working hard in practice and felt that effort was paying off in games.
