Belfast Giants avenged their earlier-season defeat in Cardiff with a 4-1 win over the Devils at a sold-out Vindico Arena on Wednesday. The visitors had the better of a first period in which clear scoring chances were limited, and neither team found a goal.
Cardiff threatened early in the second period, but Belfast netminder Jape Kupsky stopped Kohen Olischefski on a breakaway and then denied Bayley Harewood on a two-on-one. David Goodwin opened the scoring on the powerplay at 29:58, firing high past Christian Stoever. Scott Conway made it 2-0 with seven seconds left in the period, finishing a late attack.
Logan Cockerill extended Belfast’s lead at 46:22. Thomas Caron scored his first goal for Cardiff at 48:45 to make it 3-1, but Kaleb Pearson restored the Giants’ three-goal advantage by converting a penalty shot at 51:16. Belfast held on for the 4-1 victory.
