Brynäs IF defenceman Robert Hägg has been suspended for three games after the Swedish Ice Hockey Association’s disciplinary board found him guilty of fighting in a match against Växjö Lakers. He was also fined SEK 20,500.
The incident occurred with 16 minutes and 15 seconds left in the third period. According to the board’s account, Växjö’s Olivier Nadeau had received the puck in front of goal when Hägg, who was some distance away, struck him forcefully in the back of the head with his left fist. Nadeau was unable to defend himself.
The suspension runs from 18 to 29 October 2026, a period the board assessed as equivalent to three games. In setting the penalty, it highlighted that Hägg deliberately struck an unprepared player in the neck, leaving him unable to protect himself, and noted the risk of injury. The board said the case was handled under the procedures for disciplinary matters during the season.
