Lukko defenceman Chris Harpur has received a one-game suspension for starting a fight with Jukurit’s Christoffer Sedoff during their 28 October game. Sedoff was not given a suspension for his part in the incident, the Liiga disciplinary delegation ruled on 29 October.

At 51:21, Sedoff hit Lukko’s Alex Beaucage near the centre line. The hit was not penalised, but Sedoff’s stick swung into Beaucage’s face. Shortly afterwards, Harpur left his defensive position, approached Sedoff in the Jukurit zone, dropped his gloves and started a fight. Both players received penalties and game misconducts during the match.

The delegation said Harpur’s fight was not spontaneous: he deliberately sought out Sedoff in response to the earlier hit on a teammate. It described the fight as an unacceptable attempt by a third player to deliver a “reminder” for a clean hit. Sedoff, by contrast, did not seek or start the fight and was responding to Harpur’s challenge, so the delegation imposed no further punishment on him.
