HC Sparta Praha needed overtime to beat bottom-placed HC Olomouc 2-1 in the early game of the 15th round. Matěj Blümel scored the winner on a power play, earning Sparta two points after two straight defeats. Olomouc’s travelling supporters went home with a point after the fifth Mora Express trip to the capital this year.
Sparta had several power plays in the first period but did not convert. Michal Řepík put the hosts ahead in the second. Olomouc’s Michal Tomeček then had a goal disallowed for deliberately kicking the puck, but Jakub Kos equalised during a late empty-net attack, sending the game to overtime.
The match was played before 15,939 spectators. Blümel’s winner was his third Extraliga goal since returning from overseas. Sparta moved from 10th to seventh place provisionally, while Olomouc remained last but reduced its deficit to the second-bottom team, BK Mladá Boleslav, to three points.
