Tomáš Kundrátek said he was close to tears after returning to Třinec and helping Motor České Budějovice earn a win. The captain had played 404 games for Oceláři Třinec and won three titles with the club. This was only his third appearance since an injury, but he logged more than 20 minutes on the ice.

Kundrátek said his team had prepared well and delivered a strong, committed performance. He praised goalkeeper Milan Klouček, saying the team stayed compact and worked hard from the opening minute. České Budějovice scored twice in less than a minute and a half, making the most of the chances they created, though Kundrátek said the game remained difficult throughout.

The victory ended Třinec’s run of scoring points in 12 consecutive games. Kundrátek said his side had focused on its own performance rather than that streak, and wanted to play responsibly and claim three points. He also thanked Třinec’s fans for their reception, saying their tribute during the closing applause was especially moving.
