Silvester Kusko scored as HC Kometa Brno took a point from a 2-1 overtime defeat at HC Energie Karlovy Vary. The forward had returned to Kometa after four years in Olomouc, the club where he began his hockey career. His second-period effort followed a shot from Aaron Irving, which he appeared to deflect in front of the net; the official scoresheet credited Irving with the goal.

Kusko described the game as evenly matched throughout and said Kometa had managed to take it to overtime against a fast-skating Karlovy Vary side. He also praised the team’s communication with its video coach after a successful Kometa challenge overturned a Karlovy Vary goal for offside. Kusko said he was on the ice and believed the play was offside, adding that the overturned goal gave Brno a psychological lift by changing the score from a potential 2-0 deficit to 1-1.

Kometa had chances to win, Kusko said, but he considered the point a good return while acknowledging the team had wanted all three.
