Belfast Giants completed their trip to Scotland with a 1-0 win over Glasgow Clan on Friday, leaving the hosts still looking for their first points of the Motorpoint Elite League season. Logan Cockerill scored the only goal at 2:09, finishing a breakaway after a stretch pass from Kaleb Pearson.
Belfast controlled much of the opening period, while David Madsen had Glasgow’s closest chance to equalise. Scott Conway appeared to make it 2-0 in the second, but after the goal was awarded following a review, Glasgow successfully challenged for goaltender interference and the decision was overturned.
Glasgow threatened through Cade Neilson and Alex Forbes in the second period. Early in the third, Mick Messner’s shot was saved by Jake Kupsky, and Brady Risk hit the post. Clan pulled goaltender Rasmus Tirronen with 1:11 remaining, but could not find a way past Kupsky, who finished with the shutout. Glasgow were held without a goal for the second time in league competition this season.
