Rögle forward Daniel Zaar has been reported to the Swedish Ice Hockey Association’s disciplinary board following a hit on Örebro’s Christopher Mastomäki in an SHL game. The board was due to consider the case during the day.
The incident occurred 29 seconds into the third period. Zaar received a five-minute major and a game misconduct for an illegal check to the head. According to the Players Safety Group’s review, play and the puck were behind the goal in Örebro’s defensive zone when Zaar, arriving as a third player, hit Mastomäki in the head with his left shoulder. The review said Zaar was not playing the puck and that the hit could have been avoided, or at least made with contact to Mastomäki’s shoulder.
