Djurgården player Noel Gunler has been suspended for two matches after the Swedish Ice Hockey Association’s Disciplinary Committee ruled that he interfered with the goalkeeper in a game against Brynäs. The suspension runs from 16 to 20 October 2026, and Gunler was also fined SEK 13,000.

The incident occurred with 9:26 remaining in the third period. Gunler was driving towards goal while battling a Brynäs player and, despite being impeded slightly, continued at high speed into the goalkeeper without slowing down. The goalkeeper was injured and had to leave the game. Charging was considered as an alternative penalty.

The committee said video evidence established the offence. It noted that Gunler slowed somewhat before contact, but was still travelling relatively fast, and that responsibility could not be placed on an opposing player. Although the committee found no direct intent to hit the goalkeeper, it concluded Gunler must have recognised the high likelihood of a collision and was indifferent to that risk. It cited the tackle on a goalkeeper who could not be checked in the goal crease and the significant risk of injury.
