JYP defenceman Trent Bourque will not be suspended for an incident involving Kiekko-Espoo’s Aarne Talvitie in their game on 9 October. Bourque was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for kneeing at 58:02, and the play was referred for disciplinary review as possible kneeing or tripping.

After reviewing video and hearing Bourque’s account, Liiga’s disciplinary panel concluded that he did not hit Talvitie knee-first or extend his knee to make contact. It ruled instead that Bourque tripped Talvitie with his leg, causing him to fall. The panel said the action was a rule violation but, considering how it was carried out and the nature of the contact, did not recklessly endanger the opponent. It therefore found the trip was not serious enough to merit a suspension. The decision was dated 10 October 2026.
