EC-KAC’s comeback against KooKoo Kouvola came up short in a 5-3 Champions Hockey League defeat. The Finnish visitors scored four times in seven minutes to take a 4-0 lead into the first intermission. Thimo Nickl and Nicholas Petersen cut the deficit to two in the second period, and KAC made it 4-3 in the third. Just 18 seconds later, Miska Siikonen scored his second goal of the game to restore KooKoo’s two-goal cushion. KAC could not find another goal and suffered its fourth consecutive CHL defeat.

Graz captain Paul Stapelfeldt was then given a game misconduct penalty after a knee check. Naukkarinen and Petr Fridrich extended SaiPa’s lead to 3-0 in the second period. Nick Swaney scored immediately after the start of the third, but Graz could not add another. Erik Wittwer, a 21-year-old cooperation player, made his debut for the 99ers.
