Guildford Flames defenceman Dustyn McFaul has been fined and suspended for one game following a kneeing incident against Fife on Saturday night. He was assessed a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct during the game.
The league’s review said McFaul was skating towards the neutral zone when he lined up Fife’s Joey Pierce for a body check. Pierce shifted right to avoid the contact, and McFaul adjusted his body by moving his left leg forward, causing knee-on-knee contact.
The review concluded that McFaul extended his knee to ensure contact was made, with enough force to warrant supplemental discipline. It said the incident was not an unavoidable knee-on-knee impact caused by the player receiving the hit. The suspension takes effect immediately.
