Krefeld Pinguine continued their successful return to the top flight with a 5-2 win away to Löwen Frankfurt on Thursday. The victory was Krefeld’s fourth in seven games and lifted the team to fourth place in the table, at least until Friday evening’s remaining games in the seventh round.
The first goal came after 26 minutes, when Timo Kose put Frankfurt ahead. Krefeld responded through Mathew Santos, who scored twice, in the 32nd and 40th minutes to turn the game around. Adam Payerl and Philip Gogulla then struck in quick succession after the second interval, extending the visitors’ lead to 4-1 by the 45th minute.
Austin Wagner pulled one back for Frankfurt a minute later. The hosts pushed late on, but could not threaten Krefeld’s lead. Payerl completed the scoring with an empty-net goal for 5-2. Six more games in the round were scheduled for Friday, with MagentaSport set to show them live, individually and in a conference broadcast.
