Kölner Haie extended their Champions Hockey League winning streak to five games with a 3-0 home victory over Herning Blue Fox. Cologne had already secured a place in the playoffs before Game Day 5. Nico Wiens stopped all 26 shots he faced for a shutout on his CHL debut.
Marcel Noebels had a chance to put Cologne ahead within the first minute after drawing a penalty shot, but Jānis Fecers denied his attempt. The hosts opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Noebels set up Patrick Russell on a 3-on-2 rush, and Russell beat Fecers with a shot over the glove.
Cologne made it 2-0 just 42 seconds into the second period, with Maximilian Kammerer scoring on the power play. Russell added his second goal less than five minutes later, converting Ryan MacInnis’s pass from the slot. Herning could not find a way past Wiens in the third as the hosts protected their lead.
